CARLA ANISMAN was born and raised in Northern Italy before coming to the States. She attended San Francisco State University and the University of California at Berkeley, obtaining a Master's degree in Art. She holds a teaching credential from the state of California and helped found the Silicon Valley Italian School. Carla has been a real estate residential and investment agent for approximately 20 years, covering the Midpeninsula from Los Altos to Redwood City. With all this she has kept close ties with her country of birth, traveling often there for extended stays.

MARIO FUSCO was born in Naples, Italy, and came to the States as a teenager. He completed his studies here, earning a PhD in physics and pursuing a career in aerospace. He has always kept close links with Italy, returning often for extended stays and continuing his studies of its history and culture. Dr. Fusco has years of experience teaching at San Jose' State University, De Anza and Foothill Colleges, and Stanford University. Recently retired as a practicing physicist in industry, he currently teaches introductory Italian at Menlo College, lectures at large on Italian travel and culture, and is active in several joint Italian-American ventures.

PAOLA GRASSI is newly arrived from Sicily. She has a degree in comparative literature from the University of Catania and is

continuing her studies both here and in Italy. Paola joined the IEI staff in the Fall of 2007, and was an immediate success with the morning conversation class. Beyond academia, her interests extend to Italian and Sicilian cuisine which she has shared with great success with American friends and guests.
